Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham JBR joined the rest of the globe in the observance of Earth Hour 2018. The lights were switched off at the hotel’s lobby, restaurants and public areas, and guests were encouraged to take part in the celebration by turning off the lights in their respective rooms from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm. To light up the lobby, the team from the hotel created candleholders and Earth Hour handicrafts made from recycled materials.

Samer Rafie, hotel manager, commented: “Our team is committed in creating positive social impact for our planet. The symbolic switching off of lights may seem like a small contribution, but we believe that our collective actions are able to generate impressive and measurable results over the years.”

Now on its 11th year, Earth Hour is one of the biggest environmental events pioneered by the World Wide Fund (WWF). The movement aims to raise awareness on climate change and other pressing environmental issues.
