The World Future Council holds its annual meeting for the first time in Dubai under the auspices of Al Habtoor Group. The meeting will be held on Thursday 20, September at 7pm.  High on the agenda will be the issues of climate change, energy, sustainable eco-systems and sustainable economies.

Mr. Khalaf Al Habtoor, Chairman of Al Habtoor Group, and a number of high-profile environmentalists will receive WFC members.  The topics of discussion at the meeting will focus on the future of the Gulf cities and ways to establish renewable energy and eco-friendly cities.

Dr Jacob von Uexküll, Founder of the World Future Council said there were several reason why Dubai was chosen to host the meeting, "There is no place better than Dubai to talk about the Gulf cities. Its growth from a small trading port on the edge of the desert to a global city in a short period is a proof of the strength of the visionary leadership."

He added, "This gives us hope that this city can implement the same vision in the coming decades to renew itself into a post-modern contemporary city."
