Gulf Bank sponsors ‘The Role of Civil Society Organizations in Women’s empowerment’ symposium

Gulf Bank concluded its sponsorship of ‘The Role of Civil Society Organizations in Women’s empowerment’ Symposium. The symposium which was organized by Kuwait University’s College of Social Sciences in cooperation with UNDP Kuwait and the General Secretariat of the Higher Commission of Planning and Development took place on 28 - 30 April at Kuwait University’s College of Social Sciences. 

The Fifth Annual Symposium of the Women’s Research and Studies Center held a press conference in which Mrs. Salma Al-Hajjaj, General Manager of Human Resources at Gulf Bank represented the Bank and spoke about the importance of such forums that highlights women’s role in social development, economic growth, political policies and change in society in general and above all women’s empowerment.  The symposium included a number of important topics such as: The growth of civil society organizations in the Arab world, civil society organizations and women’s economic empowerment, civil social organization and women’s political participation, the role of civil social organization on progressive legal change and the role of International organizations in spreading gender change equality.

In addition, different civil society organizations and international agencies shared best practices and shed light on crucial areas that need to get greater attention. The symposium also included various related workshops.
