Gulf Bank Platinum sponsor of the 28th Memorial Journey for Pearl Diving

Gulf Bank is pleased to be a platinum sponsorship of the 28^th Memorial Journey for Pearl Diving, The journey, which begins from 28 July – 4 August, is organized each year by the Committee of the Marine Heritage of the Kuwait Sea Sport Club, under the Patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The journey kicked off at 8:30 am on Thursday, 28 July with a special “Al-Dasha" ceremony. The dhows leave carrying captains as well as other participants heading to Bandar Al Khairan for an entire week trip. Another return ceremony “Al Qoffal” is planned for the afternoon of Thursday, 4 August 2016.

The Pearl Diving Memorial Journey is one of the initiatives that Gulf bank sponsors it on an annual basis, it forms a key part of its long-term commitment to preserving the heritage and continuing the traditions of Kuwait’s unique past. The Journey aims to remind young Kuwaiti generations of the difficulties and challenges faced by their forefathers in earning their living, along with a message urging these generations to uphold the traditions and values their ancestors developed during that time. 

The journey is organized each year by the Committee of the Marine Heritage of the Kuwait Sea Sport Club, which has Kuwaiti sailors using dhows to sail great distances away from their families and to dive for pearls in the traditional way.
