The Ggeneral Organisation of Sea Ports signs up for Injaz Bahrain programme

A female Bahraini professional from the General Organisation of Sea Ports (GOP) is sharing her experience with secondary school students as part of inJAz Bahrain’s programmes.     

Bahraini executive Safa Al Tajir, Head of Tenant Services, Bahrain Logistics Zone (BLZ), has joined the list of volunteers contributing to the inJAz Bahrain teaching module: ‘Careers with a Purpose’.  She is actively involved in this management and training programme which is aimed at introducing students to the importance of seeking careers that help them realise their life potential and noble purpose. 

During the course of the programme, Ms Al Tajir is lecturing at the Hidd Secondary Girls School, where she helps demonstrate the importance of positive values and ethical decision-making within the context of career decisions. 

Demonstrating the GOP’s commitment to promoting its female executives as well as reaching out to the community and participating in youth investment initiatives, Ms Al Tajir’s involvement in this programme has served as an example of the achievements and abilities of Bahraini women across industries.

The “Careers with a Purpose” teaching module currently focuses on secondary school level students, and is designed to help students identify careers that best suit their skills and capabilities through proper education and training. 

Hassan Ali Almajed, Director General of GOP, said, “inJAz Bahrain’s programmes are critical to the development of our emerging generation, and we are very pleased that Safa is volunteering her time for this important initiative. We see it as a responsibility of the GOP to do our part in ensuring the program is as successful as can be, and in helping to highlight the many achievements of the female workforce in the ports and shipping industry. 

“The program also fits perfectly into our business strategy, which aims at enhancing overall capacity-building and helping promote the career potential of the maritime industry in the Kingdom, which will ultimately help Bahrain’s maritime sector to prosper and remain competitive in the global maritime community. We look forward to achieving great results and hope to see more of our team members take part in inJAz Bahrain’s future projects.”  

GOP has become one of the first few semi-government organisations to participate and  help turn inJAz Bahrain’s vision into a reality.

In keeping with the educational theme, the GOP recently launched the Bahrain Maritime Education Fund that aims to provide scholarships and financial support to assist Bahraini nationals, selected through a fair and transparent process, in pursuing higher education and training in the maritime sector. The GOP also launched, in partnership with Tamkeen, a youth-oriented educational program in September 2011 as part of the Bahrain Maritime Festival 2011, which is to be rolled out over the course of the current school-year.
