Georgetown Announces Registration For Public-Private Partnership Executive Education Course At Qf

Governments are increasingly integrating private sector innovations and investments through private-public partnerships (PPPs) to deliver large-scale public service works like roads, bridges, and hospitals on time and on budget. 

To provide government officials and industry leaders the hands-on experience necessary for the implementation of successful PPPs, QF partner Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) has announced registration for their “Certificate in Public-Private Partnership Advanced Course” which will be held on March 29-31 on the Education City campus.

Real world case studies will offer participants an actionable understanding of PPPs, including screening for partner suitability, determining project Value for Money, and understanding and utilizing modern and innovative techniques to structure and model successful project finance transactions.

Designed for public officials as well as private sector professionals, this highly interactive course builds on the theory and practice from GU-Q’s foundational course on PPPs. However, current or previous work experience in public-private partnerships is not required, explained Rodolph Boughaba, the Associate Dean for Executive Education at GU-Q. 

“Public Private Partnerships are one of the key strategies to achieve the Qatar National Vision and the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals, allowing Qatar to capitalize on the expertise and resourcing that those partnerships provide,” he said, adding: “Georgetown University is committed to capacity-building in Qatar and the region through education and engagement with all stakeholders. Practical, hands-on experience is critically important for public sector officials in Qatar to understand how PPPs can be used to further develop the country’s infrastructure and cut costs, while encouraging entrepreneurship and a vibrant business sector in Qatar.”

In addition, he added, professionals in the field of construction, operations and maintenance, engineering, finance, law, along with senior consultants, investors, and development specialists will benefit from this program. 

The Certificate in Public-Private Partnership Advanced Course is taught by John Buttarazzi, a PPP professional with more than 25 years of experience and a professor of practice at Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy in Washington, DC. Buttarazzi has advised hundreds of U.S. and foreign government officials on PPP matters, including the establishment of guidelines and procedures and building capacity for PPP transactions. He has also been a Visiting Lecturer at the Princeton University Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
