Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah Island Marks Emirati Women’s Day with an Inspiring Cultural Celebration

Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah Island, a destination where culture, art, and gastronomy converge, is honouring Emirati Women’s Day with an inspiring program of events. Designed to celebrate the spirit, talent, and achievements of Emirati women, an exclusive panel discussion on the topic ‘Women Building the Nation’ will be held on August 28th, followed by an immersive Canvas-to-Scarf experience in collaboration with Lila Kora. Starting from the same date, guests are invited to visit a month-long art exhibition and savour an elegant afternoon tea infused with local flavours.

Kicking off at 4 pm, Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah Island will set the stage for a powerful conversation panel on ‘Women Building the Nation’. Architect and educator Asma Bukhammas will share how her teaching and research at Zayed University champion regional voices and highlight the overlooked contributions of women in architecture. Her work with the Desert Culture research cluster further challenges traditional definitions of success, giving value to oral histories and community-based knowledge.

Joining her is multidisciplinary artist Ruqaya Al Hashmi, a Zayed University graduate whose practice moves between painting, photography, ceramics, and installation to explore the ties between memory, nature, and space. Having served as a curatorial assistant intern at Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and featured in exhibitions such as The Art That Keeps On Giving, she brings a distinctive perspective on creativity and cultural identity. Together, the speakers will reflect on their journeys, the influences that shape their work, and their shared vision for empowering women across art and design in the UAE.

Following the inspiring panel discussion, Ruqaya Al Hashmi will unveil her dynamic month-long exhibition in the lobby of Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah Island. Represented by Aisha Alabbar Gallery, the display explores how both the physical and conceptual landscapes intersect with perception and the body. On display from August 28th to September 28th, each piece invites viewers to see the world from a new perspective, standing as a vibrant tribute to the talent and influence of Emirati women being honoured on this special day.

Later, premium fashion accessory brand Lila Kora will host an exclusive interactive experience, where attendees can design their own hand-painted artwork to be transformed into a bespoke silk scarf. Offering a meaningful way to mark Emirati Women’s Day, participants will have complete creative freedom to explore colour, texture, and pattern, creating a truly personal keepsake to treasure. Finally, the celebration concludes with an elegant Emirati Women’s Day Afternoon Tea.
