FGB, one of the leading banks in the UAE, was recognised as an employer of choice in the UAE by the GCC Best Employer Brand Awards 2014. FGB was selected for its efforts in promoting innovation amongst its staff members and consistent improvement of HR policies and practices to best suit employee and bank needs.

The GCC Best Employer Brand Awards 2014 are endorsed by the Asian Confederation of Businesses. The event was organised by the Employer Branding Institute and Stars of the Industry Group, with CHRO Asia as a strategic partner of the event. The recognition is based on results by research teams in each of the selected countries, which are then referred to a jury to make the final decisions on winners.

André Sayegh, CEO of FGB, said: “FGB has been recognised throughout the past year for its strong financial performance, innovative products and true understanding of market needs. The Bank has been focused on developing its human capital over the years and we have in place a specific ‘People’ strategy at the center of a larger strategic blueprint. This recognition is very important to us as it is a reflection of our commitment to an employee value proposition that aims to attract, develop and retain the very best talent.”

Gareth Powell, Head of HR at FGB, added: “Our people are key to our continued success and they play a critical role in ensuring we succeed in our strategy to put our customers first. We continuously strive to ensure that we create a harmonious work culture that fosters a positive and motivating environment offering plenty of opportunities for growth and development to all our staff.”

Noora Al Reyasi, Head of Learning at FGB, said: “In line with our strategy to attract and develop quality national talent, FGB offers a wide range of programmes specifically designed to enhance the professional skills of Emirati employees and prepare them to take on more senior roles within the organisation.”

FGB’s Emirati training programmes include Nujoom (Management Trainee program) and Al Masar (aimed at identifying and developing internal, high-potential talent). The bank also has its Al Manara (Mentoring) and Arshidni (Coaching) programmes in place, to support the continuous development of the bank’s Emirati talent.

FGB’s strong franchise and solid performance have been recognised by various leading bodies. The bank was named “Best Bank in the UAE” at the 2014 Banker Middle East Industry Awards for the second year in a row, and received the “Best Wealth Management Firm” award for the year as well. Furthermore, Forbes Middle East magazine placed FGB in 8th position on its ‘Top 500 companies in the Arab World’ list.
