Evolving security landscape, demystifying the cloud and efficient data management strategies are key Symantec themes at GITEX 2011

Understanding the evolving threat landscape, demystifying cloud computing and improving data management are just some of the benefits that visitors to GITEX 2011 will experience when visiting Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) at the exhibition in October 2011.  

Also, for the second year running Symantec will have a strong presence at both the Cloud Confex as well as at the main GITEX exhibition arena, giving decision-makers the opportunity to understand and discover in-depth Symantec cloud strategy and product offerings in the area of mail security, backup and archiving services. The current IT landscape poses tremendous challenges in sharing, managing, protecting, and securing enterprise vital and sensitive information. Increasing infrastructure complexity in the growth of mobile devices and cloud computing have made this task tougher than ever.  

Symantec experts will be on hand to assist GITEX visitors for better understand the benefits of cloud model and ushering and adopting cloud services in the region.  Recognizing that many enterprises are still at various level of understanding and adopting cloud model and Bulent Teksoz, Symantec, Chief Security Strategist Middle East & North Africa, Symantec will be speaking at the Cloud Confex to highlight Security and Governance in the cloud environment. The recently launched Symantec Endpoint Protection 12 for Enterprise and SMB markets is expected to generate significant customer interest at GITEX 2011. Symantec will be announcing host of new offerings like appliances for storage and availability management. 

Norton, Symantec’s consumer arm, will this year be showcasing the results of locally conducted research on the UAE’s threat landscape, offering insight into the current scope and impact of cybercrime here in the UAE on everyday users. The Norton Cybercrime Report UAE 2011 has revealed 76% of online users in the UAE have fallen victim to cybercrime in the last year while the cost has reached AED 2.3 billion in total over 12 months.  Despite such shocking figures, only 2 in 10 cybercrime victims said they reported the cybercrime to the police while 53% of residents revealed they don’t have up-to-date security software to protect themselves and their personal information. 

Norton by Symantec will launch the 2012 range of solutions – Norton Internet Security 2012 and Norton AntiVirus 2012. The Norton 2012 products is focused on improving  performance and protection, it also includes key security enhancements, including the ability to assess the safety and stability of an application before installation. Global and regional industry experts from Norton by Symantec will be present at the stand to meet with users and discuss the latest product features and technology trends. 

This year, Symantec will have a prime location in Hall 3, Stand D3-1, which will consist of meeting rooms, a presentation theatre and solution demonstration pods where various solutions will be showcased in collaboration with our trusted channel partners from across the region. Symantec.cloud is also taking part in the Cloud Confex Stand CLD-7 in the Sheikh Saeed Hall.
