Due to Tuesday’s incident EQUATE shuts down EG unit

EQUATE Petrochemical Company said that it has shutdown one of its Ethylene Glycol units with a total capacity of 550,000 MTA. 

An EQUATE official said, “The shutdown will be for approximately six weeks as a result of the fire that took place on Tuesday, July 31st, 2012. Production operations of other units are unaffected and ongoing.” 

The official added, “EQUATE would like to note that it is the only entity authorized to issue statements regarding this matter and all other issues relevant to its operations.”
