Environmentally aware LG employees lead beach clean up

LG Electronics took part in a community beach clean up over the weekend, gathering close to 100 employees who volunteered to clear JBR - Open Beach of litter. The initiative was part of a series of regular activities that LG undertakes to raise awareness of the importance of caring for the environment.

“LG is aiming to become a greener company, and we are doing this by improving our processes and products, as well as promoting an environmentally friendly culture at LG. We believe that a responsible company has to contribute directly to its community, and expect our employees to volunteer for more activities like this beach cleanup in the future,” said Mr. H.S. Paik, President of LG Electronics Gulf FZE.

LG is planning to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by almost 14 tons by the end of 2011, an increase from the 12.9 million tons reduced in 2010. Last year’s achievements were the result of improved manufacturing processes, better logistics coordination and the production of energy-efficient products.
