As part of its corporate social responsibility commitment, Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), is extending its support as a gold sponsor of the fifth edition of the Fazza Championship, the sports event for special needs athletes.

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, the event is organised by Dubai Centre for Special Needs.

More than 400 athletes from over 45 countries are participating at the three-month Fazza Championship tournament.

Saif Al Falasi, Executive Director EHSQ & Corporate Affairs at ENOC, said: “ENOC’s sponsorship support to Fazza Championship is a testament to the company’s commitment towards the community. We empower the disadvantaged members of society by encouraging them to participate in sports, which instills in them self-confidence, further boost relationship building and team spirit.”

Al Falasi Added: “Physical activity is important for people with special needs. Everyone can benefit from the exercise, energy release and enjoyment of playing sports. It does not only improve overall fitness but cognitive skills as well. The community-based initiative, Fazza Championship, is one way of helping the public to understand the needs of the differently-abled.”

The Fazza Championships was launched 5 years ago and was added to the Dubai Calendar in 2009.

ENOC is at the forefront of giving back to the community. The company earlier launched ‘ENOC Challenge,’ a flagship CSR programme that involves comprehensive training course for disadvantaged youngsters in the UAE. It provides them with a unique opportunity to acquire critical professional skills and embark on challenging new careers outside and within ENOC.

ENOC has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Community Development Authority in Dubai (CDA) to empower and integrate people with disabilities into mainstream society. The MoU provides a framework for providing people with disabilities, nominated by CDA, with a unique opportunity to acquire critical professional skills at ENOC and prepare them to join the workforce, making them an active part of the UAE community.
