ENEC and U.S. Department of Energy Conduct Workshops to Share Nuclear Knowledge and Expertise with Ghanian and Polish Delegations

The Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC) in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy, conducted two workshops for representatives from Ghana and Poland’s nuclear energy organizations.

Held at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant and in Abu Dhabi City, the sessions shared practical lessons from the delivery and operation of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, focusing on risk-informed cybersecurity for new builds and the principles of nuclear quality, regulatory requirements, and safety culture in emerging programs.

The workshops covered two topics: “Nuclear Quality for Emerging Countries” and Cybersecurity for Nuclear Power Generation: Lessons Learned from New Program Implementation”.

This initiative builds on ENEC’s longstanding cooperation with the US Department of Energy, strengthened in 2020 when both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on energy cybersecurity. This forms part of ENEC’s wider strategy to advance global knowledge exchange, support new nuclear programs, and expand opportunities for international investment, partnerships, and deployment of advanced nuclear technologies for new build nuclear countries to boost energy security and sustainability.
