Emirates NBD, a leading bank in the region, today strengthened its long-term partnership with Dubai Police, by offering the bank’s credit card holders a convenient way to pay their traffic fines.

The partnership agreement signed by Dubai Police and Emirates NBD on the sidelines of GITEX Technology Week saw the bank launching an exclusive zero per cent instalment plan that enables credit card customers to pay traffic fines in interest free instalments from three months to a year.

This long-term partnership was inked today at a ceremony, where Ahmed Al Marzouqi, General Manager - Retail Distribution, Emirates NBD, and Lt. Colonel, Naeem Mohammad Al Katib, Director of Revenue Department, Dubai Police, signed the partnership agreement.

Speaking on the sidelines of the signing ceremony, Al Marzouqi, said: “Our partnership with Dubai Police reflects Emirates NBD’s commitment to understand and respond to the evolving needs of our customers. The introduction of this unique facility provides our customers with a quick and efficient way of clearing their traffic penalties, whilst facilitating significant savings and payment flexibility. We are confident that the newly launched service, which is in line with the Government’s initiative to transform Dubai into a smart city, will prove to be extremely beneficial to motorists in the emirate.”

The significant partnership is in keeping with Dubai Smart City initiative which promotes increased usage of digital channels such as mobile and online platforms. To avail of the facility, Emirates NBD customers are required to download the Dubai Police app through which traffic fines can be paid. Once downloaded, credit card holders can choose to convert the payments into zero percent instalments over 3, 6 or 12 months.

Lt. Colonel, Naeem Mohammad Al Katib, Director of Revenue Department, Dubai Police said: “Emirates NBD is considered one of the nation’s leading institutions, in addition to being one of the largest banks in the region. The partnership between the General Command of Dubai Police and Emirates NBD has a distinguished history and a strong track record of delivering results, since it was formed in the 1980s.

“Today, we are reaping the benefits of this partnership by launching yet another service to residents which is in keeping with the Government’s initiative, delivered under the guidance of our wise leadership, to transform Dubai into a Smart City. Emirates NBD always seeks to be ahead in adapting to latest technologies, in addition to being one of the first banks that has provided various channels to pay traffic fines, whether online or via its ATMs. The instalment plan for traffic fine payments is a part of the service provided by Dubai Police for customers which allows them to choose the most appropriate way to complete transactions at their convenience.”

Today’s announcement is latest in a series of initiatives that Emirates NBD has launched in partnership with Dubai Police. The bank, in collaboration with Dubai Police, has launched ‘Fight Against Fraud,’ a public service campaign that was introduced in 2012 to raise awareness about financial fraud in the UAE.  In addition, the bank has also launched a series of exclusive offers on its banking products and services for Dubai Police staff.

Background Information

Emirates NBD

Emirates NBD, the leading banking group in the region, was formed on 19 June 1963, when H.H. Late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum signed the Charter of Incorporation of the National Bank of Dubai (NBD) which became the first National Bank established in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). With the blessings of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, NBD merged with Emirates Bank International (EBI) on 06 March 2007, to form Emirates NBD, the largest banking group in the region by assets. On 16 October 2007, the shares of Emirates NBD were officially listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM). The merger between EBI and NBD to create Emirates NBD, became a regional consolidation blueprint for the banking and finance sector as it combined the second and fourth largest banks in the UAE to form a banking champion capable of delivering enhanced value across corporate, retail, private, Islamic and investment banking throughout the region.

Dubai Police

Dubai Police Force was  established on June 01, 1956, and was based in "Naif Fort," as its Headquarters, until the year 1973 when it was moved to the current location. "Naif Fort" was transformed, later, into one of Dubai Police Stations.

We, Dubai Police, are proud to be an Arab modern police establishment with a force of more than fifteen thousand employees who are characterized by their degrees of high-level multi specialties and training. We are also proud to be one of the best security institutions, at all levels; locally, regionally, and globally.
