eHosting DataFort highlights relevance of managed IT services at ‘IT for Government 2011’ seminar in Dubai

Zeineldin’s comments came during his presentation at ‘IT for Government 2011’ held in Dubai on 4-5 October at Dusit Thani hotel. The event gathered experts and policy makers from public sector departments to discuss IT-related strategies and methodologies, particularly those that can transform the way government organizations function today.

Speaking on ‘From Managed Services to the Cloud’ at the two-day conference, Zeineldin said: “Governments are focusing on strategic priorities such as improving education, healthcare, and providing advanced services to its citizens. Hence, they need to relieve themselves from performing mundane operational activities such as keeping their IT systems up and running. By adopting a Managed Services model, governments can achieve efficiencies by reducing both the capital expenditure and operational costs and thereby re-invest the savings in new initiatives and value-added services.”

He also added that moving forward, more and more governments and private sector organisations will consider using ‘Infrastructure as a Service’ and implementing ‘Private Cloud’ deployments within the region.
