DuPont announces 2015 Safety and Sustainability Award recipients

DuPont has announced the winners of the 12^th edition of the DuPont Safety and Sustainability Awards. The awards recognize outstanding intiatives aimed at enhancing workplace safety, sustainability and operational effectiveness.

Selected by an independent jury composed of leading experts in occupational safety and sustainability, the 2015 recipients of the global awards include: 

• Ethylene XXI Contractors SAPI de CV for the Global Safety Award.
• Versa Drives Pvt. Ltd. for the Global Sustainability Award.
• Gulf Drilling International for the Global Operational Excellence Award.

“We are very pleased that our hard work and commitment to operational excellence has led us to be recognized as a finalist for the DuPont Safety and Sustainability Award,” said Mubarak Al-Hajri, CEO of Gulf Drilling International. “We believe that our improved operational performance has allowed us to become a more competitive, sustainable company, and proven to other companies that investing in operational excellence truly pays off.”

The award ceremony in Wilmington, Delaware, USA was accompanied by a Best Practice Forum in which all of the winners shared the context, content and success factors for their projects.

Jury President Andrew Sharman, Health and Safety Director for Owens-Illinois, said that jury members were particularly impressed by both the quality and quantity of the projects submitted for consideration this year. “This growth is quite heartening, as I feel quite strongly that the recognition of positive contributions to workplace safety, operational excellence and corporate sustainability is crucial in galvanising the public and private sectors to promote and pursue improvement projects.”
