Delegation from the municipal system briefed on Dubai Municipality experience in the field of land classification
A Municipal delegation headed by Mr. Mohamed Hareb Al Ketbi, Director of Property Management at Al Ain Municipality and Mr. Youssef Al Kuwaiti, Legal Advisor and Director of Land & Property Regulations & Registration Division at the Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA) and included , Officials and specialists from the land and real estate sector in the DMA and the municipalities of the Emirate, Abu Dhabi Municipality, Al Ain Municipality and the Western Region, paid a visit to the Municipality of Dubai during which he was briefed on land classification system in the emirate.
The delegation was received by Engineer Osama Al Safi Director of Planning Division at Dubai Municipality and Ms. Manal Al-Shamlan, head of land Information and Issuance of Maps, in addition to a number of experts and specialists in the municipality. The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation and exchange experience in the field of land classification.
During the meeting Dubai Municipality made a presentation on management planning and development of services in the field of land classification. The presentation highlighted the importance of the land classification system which plays an important role in supporting the policy of urban planning in the emirate.
Commenting on the visit, Mr. Mohamed Hareb Al Ketbi, director of property management at Al Ain Municipality said: This visit is an important step and contributes significantly to strengthen areas of cooperation between the Municipal System in Abu Dhabi and the Municipality of Dubai in the field of land classification. He explained that the municipal system is looking forward to further cooperation with Dubai Municipality so as to achieve maximum benefit from their experience in this filed.
On his part, Mr. Youssef Al Kuwaiti, Legal Advisor and Director of Land & Property Regulations & Registration Division at the DMA, highlighted the importance of the department's role as a legislative and regulatory body for the Municipal System in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and its contribution to achieving sustainable development in the Emirate. He emphasized on the importance of land classification and the effort by the DMA to adopt best international practice in this field in order to raise the level of services provided within the framework of Abu Dhabi 2030 vision which aims for the Government of Abu Dhabi to be one of the best five governments in the world in terms of the services provided to the residents of the Emirate.

Dubai Municipality
The origin of Dubai Municipality was founded in 1954 commencing its activities with a cadre of seven employees undertaking simple tasks in cleaning the city.
The first decree establishing the Municipality was on February 28, 1957, whereby 23 municipal council members had been appointed from the elders of the country and traders with limited powers, the most important of which was to take care of health and architectural affairs of the city as well as to organize construction and beautification of the city and provide constructive suggestions to the government.
