Dubai Ice Rink hosts Emirates Hockey League matches for second consecutive year

Dubai Ice Rink, the Olympic-sized ice rink managed by Emaar Retail LLC in The Dubai Mall, is hosting the Emirates Hockey League matches for the second consecutive year.

Ice-hockey fans can take part in the thrills of the games, cheering up their favourite teams and watching the matches for free until February 2012. With a few matches already over, the league enters an exciting phase with tournaments to be held on Nov. 21, 23 and 30; Dec. 7 and 12; Jan. 11, 16 and 25; and Feb. 1, 6, 8 and 22. In all, some 15 matches are being played at Dubai Ice Rink on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8.15pm.

Several local teams are taking part in the Emirates Hockey League, organised by the Abu Dhabi Ice Sports Club, with the matches being played at various venues in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain. All the Dubai matches are played at Dubai Ice Rink, which has a 1.5 inches (38 mm) ice-bed, nearly three times the thickness of a National Hockey League ice rink.

The Emirates Hockey League matches, held for the second consecutive year at Dubai Ice Rink, bring together teams from across the country, displaying the skills of local teams in ice-hockey. The selection of Dubai Ice Rink as the venue underlines the world-class sporting environment it provides.

Among the teams to take part in the Dubai matches include Dubai Mighty Camels, Abu Dhabi Scorpions, Abu Dhabi Storms, Al Ain Theebs and Al Ain Vipers. The scores will be displayed on the giant LED screen at Dubai Ice Rink.
