Dubai Economy marked the graduation of the first batch of 16 students in the ‘Professional Diploma in Commercial Compliance’ programme launched last year in partnership with the Dubai Institute for Human Resource Development (DIHRD). First of its kind in the region, the programme aims to equip the supervisory, inspection and consumer protection staff in the Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection (CCCP) sector in Dubai Economy with knowledge on the best international practices in their respective job functions, and also enable them to perform their tasks with high quality and efficiency.

Their Excellences Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of Dubai Economy, and Abdullah Al Falasi, Director General of Dubai Government Human Resources Department, presented the certificates to the graduates at a special ceremony. The graduates are: Faisal Khalid Al Jazairi (1st Rank), Ahmed Nayef Al Mulla, Halima Hassan Yousif, Ismail Mohammed Abdul Jabbar, Ahmad Ghuloom Ahmed Al Balushi, Hassan Ali Al Shihi, Khalid Abdul Karim Almas Al Murr, Sarah Mohammed Sulaitin, Adel Ali Al Baloushi, Aysha Shahriar Al Balushi, Aysha Ali Al Jazairi, Ali Bin Kiedeh Al Balushi, Mohammed Khalid Al Adidi, Nabil Mohammed Abdullah Ahmed, Hanadi Yousif Ahli and Wa'ed Mohammad Al Jasmi.

Mohammed Ali Rashid Lootah, CEO of CCCP sector in Dubai Economy, said: "Dubai's Economy considers it important to invest in human resources as the true wealth of the country. Lootah added that the graduates, empowered with knowledge and professionalism, becomes more capable of contributing towards improved government services and achieving professional success.

The vocational diploma has become popular as evident from the enquiries received from various government and semi-government as well as private entities on enrolling their employees in the programme, said Lootah. Dubai Economy has decided to have two batches of the programme this year compared to one last year to accommodate more enrollments.

"The first batch and the assessment done on them confirm the efficiency of the diploma in grooming efficient and qualified employees for Dubai Economy. The educational modules offered in the programme included laws and regulations on commercial compliance and consumer protection, commercial control techniques and field inspection, security of inspectors, effective communication and negotiation skills, work ethics and career development, as well as the electronic systems of Dubai Economy,” said Lootah.

The vocational diploma is aimed at the frontline employees of CCCP and designed to consolidate basic concepts, ethics and skills in conducting field inspection, develop their sense of security and knowledge of laws relating to doing business and protecting consumers as well as intellectual property, and ultimately establish a competitive economic environment in Dubai. The programme will be extended to various regulatory bodies in the public and private sectors in 2018.
