Dubai Customs observes World Ideas Week for Fourth Consecutive Year
Dubai Customs has recently celebrated World Ideas Week from 12 to 15 May for the fourth consecutive year. Coinciding with the globally observed day, the Suggestions and Complaints Section at DC organised a number of activities for DC employees weeklong.
Daily workshops were held, titled “Innovation Management”, by Hussain Al Fardan, Manager of Suggestions & Complaints, in which he tackled the innovation model at DC and employee incentive techniques. Two brainstorming sessions for “Creating Innovative Ideas” were hosted by the Excellence Expert Mrs Nabila Attyani. She addressed major problems and challenges facing employees. Moreover, Ahmed Al Badawi, Project Manager at Dubai the Model Center, General Secretariat of Dubai Executive Council, made an interesting lecture, under the title “Towards Creative Services”. Mr. Al Badwawi talked about the means and methods for presenting creative ideas and boosting the effectiveness of services.
A number of organisational units in DC took part in the event by carrying out multiple brainstorming sessions for their employees, with direct coordination between the Suggestions & Complaints Section and ambassadors of innovation in DC. The most prominent of these sessions were the ones conducted by the Finance Department and Airport Operations Department.
At the end of the World Ideas Week, attendees entered a draw and the lucky winners were awarded. The names of the employee and the department with the largest number of suggestions presented during the World Ideas Week were announced; Nada Mohammed Khamis from the Customs Declaration Management Department and the Customs Declaration Management Department.
Looking into the KPIs report for the Suggestions & Complaints Section over several years, a clear surge in the figures can be seen, as the number of suggestions submitted through the corporate suggestions system in in the first quarter of 2014 amounted to 1012 suggestions, a 43% increase over last year’s 708 suggestions.
The number of implemented suggestions in Q1 2014 was 61 suggestions, 118% rise compared to Q1 of 2013.
