Dubai Customs makes eye-catching presence at largest DIGAE 2016
Dubai Customs maintained striking presence for the second day of the Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition (DIGEAE) 2016, which is being held under the auspices of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
‘Local Governments, Global Achievements’ is the catchy theme of this year’s first internationalized exhibition where the six Customs initiatives on display triggered waves of admiration among the visiting high-profile global officials and decision makers who appreciatively inspected Dubai Customs’ flagship projects, namely the Virtual Corridor, Smart Enterprise Capability, Enterprise Case Management, Smart Inspection Glasses, Smart Workspace and the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Program.
Particularly, the six global awards winner and the recently acknowledged at the 13th FEAC Annual Enterprise Architecture Awards by the FEAC Institute, USA; the Smart Enterprise Capability of Dubai Customs was a center of attention to all visitors, who were curious on learning more about the multiple features of this initiative, which include increased predictiveness, corporate capability management and the scaling of business capability maturity levels, amongst much more benefits.
Strategic Partnerships
Given the global attributes of this year’s exhibition, Dubai Customs was set and ready to engage visitors in its first-of-its-kind on the regional level, the recently implemented Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Program. The global Program is set to spur strategic partnerships through Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRA’s) stipulated under its mandate with countries and supply chain stakeholders across the world. Being a crucial component of the WCO SAFE Framework of Standards to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade (SAFE Framework), the AEO program sustains a leading role in global trade facilitation, ease of Customs procedures, trading cost reduction, efficient utilization of resources, trust and capacities building with peer Customs Authorities, and ultimately supports the integrated national efforts ahead of hosting EXPO 2020.
Worthwhile noting that Dubai Customs had concluded the pilot phase of the AEO Program, and is set to be fully operational by mid-2016.
Rejuvenating Customs business
Senior Director of Strategy and Corporate Excellence Department at Dubai Customs, Ahmed Abdul Salam Kazim commented DC’s stand-out participation in the DIGAE 2016 global edition, saying, “ Happiness, Achievement and Smart Transformation are the main themes of this year’s DIGEA exhibition; which have been fundamental values of Dubai Customs developmental work throughout the years and are better interpreted in our showcased innovations and the many more creations and tailored services we provide.”
Abdul Salam Kazim also stressed Dubai Customs dedicated approach to streamline the UAE’s and Dubai’s trade flows with the world, with a strong commitment to spearheading and boosting the growth of Dubai’s vital non-oil foreign trade sector.
