Delegation from General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai visits HR Service Centre at Dubai Customs
Within the framework of joint cooperation and exchange of experiences between various government departments and entities, senior human resources officials at Dubai Customs received a delegation from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai.
The delegation included First Lt. Khalil Ibrahim Mohammed Abdul Rahim, Director of Human Resources and Lt. Talal Hussein Abdullah, The delegation was received by Kholoud Shabib Al Marzouqi, Acting Human Resources Manager at Dubai Customs, who stressed that the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai is one of the most important strategic partners of Dubai Customs, being involved in joint work at various levels. He pointed out that this relationship can possibly be strengthened by further cooperation in HR operations.
At the beginning of the meeting, Al Marzouqi explained the strategy of the Human Resources Department, which is keen on developing a corporate culture that focuses on quality, excellent performance and delivering quick services to internal customers in accordance with the objectives of the strategic plans of the department. She also noted that the department launched the Human Resources Service Center, which is a new initiative aimed at creating an interface for HR management and staff members to facilitate follow-up of transactions and applications pertaining to administration, and getting responses to all inquiries relating to the laws and regulations, and human resources policies, through a single point of contact, via telephone, e-mail or in person.
The center works on the development and integration of procedures, ensures the quality of services, and activates the process of internal and external communication, which translates to raising the level of job satisfaction and developing a corporate culture focused on quality, excellence and continuous development, in addition to creating a healthy working environment for employees.
Al Marzouqi added that within a short period of time the center has contributed to the development of high quality human resources management services at Dubai Customs, enhanced the methods of delivery, and reduced the time for staff transactions, while also facilitating access to services and putting these services on track to be completed on time in a transparent manner. She also noted that since launching the project in June 2011 and until the end of April 2012, the centre completed 12,300 transactions - 5,000 transactions in 2011, and 7,300 transactions in the period between January - April 2012. She explained that the Centre employs seven staff, two of whom respond to inquiries and the other five are responsible for the receipt of applications and conducting transactions. The Centre has also been allocated an extension number, 7888, an exclusive e-mail and a front desk. The Centre was officially launched last September during an extensive awareness campaign launched for the department staff.
The delegation from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai expressed its admiration for the great experience they had. Lt. Khalil Ibrahim Mohammed Abdul Rahim said, “It was a pioneering experience in government work in Dubai”. He said that it was worthy of adoption in other departments, given its positive returns, and that the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai plans to establish a similar Center.
At the end of the meeting the two sides exchanged commemorative shields, wishing the continuation of communication and cooperation among all other government entities.
