Dubai Fitness Challenge aims to make Dubai the most active city in the world by challenging people of all ages to commit to 30 minutes of daily activity for 30 days from 20 October to 18 November 2017.

Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, has announced that it is taking on the ‘Dubai Fitness Challenge’ launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Dubai Government. The initiative aims to make Dubai the most active city in the world by challenging people of all ages and abilities to commit to 30 minutes of daily activity for 30 days from 20th October to 18th November 2017.

Dubai Culture’s fitness activities will include 30 minute daily walks in DFC, stair climbs in the Authority’s HQ and departments, football, yoga and volley ball sessions, and swimming for women. Dubai Culture will also be organising adventure sports in Hatta such as mountain biking and kayaking for employees who want to go the extra mile.

Saeed Al Nabouda, Acting Director General of Dubai Culture, commented: “His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Dubai Government, has called on all government entities to be the drivers of positive change and we are delighted to answer by accepting the ‘Dubai Fitness Challenge’. By improving the physical and mental health of our employees and providing them with opportunities to take up exercise, we are enriching their lives and fulfilling the Dubai Plan 2021 vision for a city of happy, creative and empowered people. During the challenge, we will be organising a variety of activities that make it easy for employees of all ages and from all departments to make a positive change in their lives. Through our participation, we hope to inspire the Dubai community to take up the challenge and get active. We are also happy with the enthusiasm of elderly craftsmen, who have decided to take on the challenge and set a great example of loyalty and willpower for the younger generation.”

Once the challenge starts, a huge variety of sporting events and activities will kick off across the city, enabling individuals, corporate organisations, government entities and schools to pledge their commitment to 30 days of physical activity. The initiative will also be supported by a Dubai Fitness Challenge app that allows participants to track their performance, discover events and unlock sporting offers.

Dubai Culture aims to enhance Dubai’s cultural scene and draw attention to the Emirate’s rich heritage with a variety of initiatives that take place throughout the year. The Authority’s mandate is to build bridges of constructive dialogue between different civilisations and cultures through enriching initiatives that benefit the Emirate’s citizens, residents and visitors.
