Dubai Chamber showcases its wide-ranging e-services at GITEX

Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry is showcasing its e-services offered to the private sector through its stand at GITEX Technology Week, one of the world’s largest and most important information and communication technology trade fairs, runningfrom October 20 to 24 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The Chamber stand is dispensing information about its e-services offered including registration and renewal of membership, issuance of Certificates of Origin, authentication of documents, as well as the e-payment and integrated services provided in partnership with other related organisation.

H.E. Hamad Buamim, President and CEO, Dubai Chamber, stated that the Chamber is showcasing a number of its e-services during GITEX which will inform and educate the traders aboutavailing these services quickly from their offices or even homes in line with the recommendations of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai,which states that we have to reach out to the clients and not wait for them to come to us.

The President and CEO of Dubai Chamber stressed that GITEX which is one of the world’s leading technology exhibitions is an ideal ground for the Chamber to showcase its commitment to achieving the objectives of Dubai’s e-Government which stresses on offering smooth and speedy services to the business community so that they save their time and become a fully-integrated e-community.

H.E. Buamim also highlighted the importance of the Chamber’s website which he said has become a key reference site for the business community to update them with the latest business trends and information. He also stressed on the need to keep pace with changes in technology as well as to improve access to the Chamber’s services as part of its efforts to represent the private sector and to reinforce Dubai’s position as an information hub in the region, he said.

The total e-transactions Dubai Chamber carried out from January to September this year was 6,30,877 which is a 10.4% increase from the 5,71,342 transactions during the same period last year.

Available on www.dubaichamber.com, Dubai Chamber’s online services allow members to pay renewal fees, pay for training courses and conferences, and sign-up for networking events organised by Dubai Chamber.

The website is user-friendly, easy to navigate, and packed with regular updates of all business-related information and procedures and offers easy access to Dubai Chamber services, initiatives, events and its virtual library, the departments of economic research, IT and media that has latest news releases and photographs of Chamber events.

The website,which alsohosts the online Chamber TV, offers a range of electronic services including registration of new membership and modification of existing membership, registration and amendments to the certificates of origin, applying for ATA Carnets, verification of signatures as well as browsing of the Dubai Commercial Directory, and the events calendar.

It also features the recently-launched online business community, International Business Network (IBN), for global businesses looking to expand their footprint in Dubai and to avail the wide-ranging benefits currently available only to Dubai Chamber members.

Also, during the GITEX week, Dubai Chamber is running a competition where businessmen stand a chance to win one of 10 free annual subscriptions to its International Business Network. Dubai Chamber has received an international certificate in Information Security Management System (ISO 27001:2005) from Bureau Veritas as part of its efforts to implement the highest global standards of quality and excellence in information technology. It has also developed a software system for issuing ATA Carnets and has introduced new technology to print the certificates of origin, e-signatures to prevent counterfeiting, and expanded its infrastructure capacity from 1GB to 10GB. It also revamped and released new eService transaction system to cover more online services and to provide improved services to customers.
