Dubai Cares is the winner of two Best in Biz Awards 2012 EMEA Gold in the Nonprofit or Government Organization of the Year category and Silver in the Marketing Campaign of the Year category for its Girls’ Education Campaign which ran throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan in 2011. The UAE-based philanthropic organization founded by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, was in competition with private and public organizations from over 20 countries.

Highlighting the significance of the achievement, Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares, said: “The entries to the Best in Biz Awards 2012 EMEA were reviewed by 22 highly experienced and senior members of the media from 11 countries and to have our efforts and initiatives recognized by such a distinguished panel is truly an honor for all of us. These awards are not only recognition of our team’s hard work, but also of the tremendous support we have received from the entire UAE community and our international implementing partners we share this award with all of you.”

Al Gurg added: “None of this would have been possible without His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, whose guidance and leadership inspired us to achieve what we have namely, to reach 7 million children in 28 developing countries in only five years. We hope that this win will not only set the benchmark for philanthropy in the UAE and the region, but also help us in raising more awareness of the various issues faced by children in developing countries in accessing quality primary education.”

The Best in Biz Awards is the only independent international business awards program judged by members of the press and industry analysts. Best in Biz Awards 2012 EMEA winners were selected based on the scoring of a distinguished panel of judges from top-tier newspapers, business and technology publications, as well as broadcast outlets. Combined, the 22 judges on this year’s panel have more than 450 years of experience and have written for a total of more than 160 consumer, business, financial, trade and technology publications worldwide.
