The panellists discussed their leadership journey and shared both personal and organizational strategies for leadership development and success and the link to developing sustainable organizations.

The conference, which was organised under the theme “Creating a sustainable future for the world”, explored the qualities of Emirati women leaders and how they are influenced by their cultural heritage. It likewise discussed various definitions of leadership and leadership success, while panellists offered their views on how women leaders and their respective companies can contribute to the sustainability of the UAE and the rest of the world. Several high-profile Emirati women business leaders shared their experiences in developing both personal and organizational strategies for leadership development and success and how they have contributed to the sustainable growth of their respective organizations.

Raja Al Gurg said: “Emirati women are among the most accomplished in the Arab world and there are certainly important lessons to be learned from their experiences. Moreover, the UAE has long been known for its deep respect for women and their contributions to the society and this unique cultural heritage has been one of the pillars that have inspired our women empowerment advocacy in the country. In this regard, Dubai Business Women Council was pleased to offer various success stories of Emirati women during the Women as Global Leaders Conference 2012 at Zayed University. We are confident that such initiatives will help inspire a greater number of women to become more actively involved in the socioeconomic development of the country and the greater Arab society.”

Founded in 2002, DBWC motivates women to be productive members of the society, while encouraging role models to rise up from the ranks and inspire other women around the world, especially in the Arab region, to discover their true potential. DBWC organises the high-profile monthly event ‘Majls Business’ to provide information about the latest knowledge, skills and best practices for women entrepreneurs and leaders.
