15 orphans enjoy Haq Al Leylah celebrations with du employees

du employees brought the spirit of Haq Al Leylah to life on 5 July, when the telecom, in association with Human Appeal International, invited 15 orphan children to celebrate the tradition at its headquarters in Dubai Media City. The guests were welcomed by Osman Sultan, CEO, du accompanied by members of du’s executive management who participated in the activities.

The children accompanied by a group of employees children, were dressed in traditional clothes and collected sweets and nuts contributed by du employees, while singing the traditional Haq Al Leylah song lead by the artist Abdullah London , ‘atona Allah yaa’teekoum bet Makah yewadeekoum (give to us and God will give to you, and with his grace you will visit Mecca).

After, they were treated to games and entertainment. Each child was presented with a gift and enjoyed lunch.

“It is such a delight to be able to celebrate Haq Al Leylah with such enthusiastic young Emiratis. We’re thrilled to have hosted them here today, and they have brought us as much joy as we hope we have given them,” said Hala Badri, Executive Vice President, Brand and Communications, du. “Our employees are very community-conscious and we encourage them to participate in activities that will promote the unique people and culture of the UAE. Haq Al Leylah is a festival of love, family and community bonding, and it is our pleasure to have recreated these today by inviting these children to celebrate with our employee family.”

Haq Al Leylah, meaning for this night, is an annual traditional event that is celebrated to mark the arrival of the Holy Month of Ramadan. On the 14th night of the lunar calendar month of Shaa’ban, 15 days before Ramadan begins.
