DPM Workshop Engages Youth in Future Plans for Abu Dhabi

The Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities (DPM) organised its first Himma Youth Retreat at Warehouse421 in Mina Zayed, Abu Dhabi.

The Himma Team held its retreat in the presence of H.E. Falah Al Ahbabi, Chairman of the DPM to discuss ways of giving youth more opportunities in leading internal and external initiatives.

Members also contributed to the development of the Himma Team’s vision and mission that carry the following values happiness, innovation, collaboration and Leadership.

Himma Youth team was launched by the DPM last year with the aim of engaging young people in supporting the development of Abu Dhabi, offering support to harness their abilities and improving interactions between employees at all levels.

The team has expanded and now comprises of 48 employees from the DPM’s various departments, including employees from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra Municipalities.

Reem Hantoush Al Ali, Himma Team Leader, said: “The youth are the driving force of the future and through Himma we will endeavour to establish stronger ties with different government entities and the private sector across the UAE, in our collective effort to support the community and our strategic partners.

“The aim of Himma is to develop sustainable projects and initiatives, in line with our wise leadership that put emphasis on the need to empower and motivate Emirati youth.

“Himma also encourages them to make suggestions that leverage the development of the UAE and helps the DPM achieve what we aspire to, in terms of comprehensive development.

“The Himma Team represent the ideas and aspirations of all DPM employees and stakeholders. Their role is vital in supporting DPM’s future initiatives and plans.”
