Dubai Properties Group, master developer of Business Bay, DUBAILAND and The Walk at JBR, in collaboration with the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, the Emirate’s dedicated Authority for culture, arts, and heritage, as well as Art Dubai, has commissioned 16 artists based in the UAE to create and display art installations made of light for the special occasion of Eid. The Light of Life event falls in line with DPG’s objective of encouraging locally based talent across the UAE.

Each of the 16 artists will be allocated an area of two iconic DPG venues – Bay Avenue, located at the heart of Business Bay, and The Walk at JBR – to exhibit a light installation that interprets what the religious Eid holiday means to them. The colorful art representations will be on public display for a total of four days starting from October 15th with the aim of transforming both areas into festive and vibrant destinations.

Commenting on the event, Sahar Al Ansari Director of Real Estate Management at DPG, said: “The Light of Life event is meant to encourage artists from all backgrounds and age groups to contribute to their communities on the special Eid occasion. In addition, The Walk at JBR and Bay Avenue are ideal venues to display the art as they are both popular destinations amongst Dubai’s residents and visitors alike.”

She added: “We definitely plan on making the Light of Life event an annual opportunity for artists to express themselves and contribute to the wider community.”

Khalild Abdulwahid, Manager of Visual Arts, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, said: “Outdoor art is becoming a phenomenal platform for community members to contribute to the city’s evolving artistic sphere. As one of the pioneers of the outdoor art movement in Dubai, Dubai Culture is delighted to once again extend its support to DPG’s ‘Light of Life’ event. We are confident that the initiative will unify communities across Dubai through art.”

Children will also be able to experiment with art during Eid by creating their own lanterns which will be hung at Bay Avenue and The Walk throughout the duration of the holiday.

The Walk at JBR is one of the most distinctive and popular entertainment and shopping destinations in the UAE, welcoming over 13 million visitors in 2012 alone.

With over 175,000 sq. ft. of retail space, Bay Avenue is already home to 140 retail outlets and dining destinations on both the ground and mezzanine levels of The Executive Towers. Among the new retail outlets announced for the centrally located Bay Avenue areTangerine, Signature Studio andSoup Station.
