DPG participates in fourth UAE ‘Car Free Day’

Dubai Properties Group (DPG), a member of Dubai Holding, has partnered with the Dubai Municipality to participate in the fourth annual UAE ‘Car Free Day’ which took place on February 13th 2013. The initiative is designed to cut carbon emissions by reducing the number of vehicles on the road, and this is the second year DPG has helped to raise awareness of alternative means of transport.
For the first time since the launch of the initiative, participants were able to register online, allowing the Dubai Municipality to more accurately calculate the impact of Car Free Day in reducing the carbon emissions in the UAE. Over 300 DPG employees joined 7000 government officials and Dubai residents in the initiative, opting to take the metro or buses to get to work in order to spread awareness about global warming and methods of controlling it.
The partnership is part of DPG’s corporate responsibility (CR) platform; “Responsible Living” launched in 2011. As part of this programme, DPG facilitates events and joint initiatives with authorities and non-profit organisations to promote different aspects of living responsibly in and around the community.
