To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the International Year of the Family, the Doha International Family Institute (DIFI) has opened the ‘Your Family, Your Lens’ photography competition, in collaboration with the Qatar Photographic Society.

The competition aims to focus on the critical role of family in community development, examine the challenges faced by families and highlight the crucial contribution they make to the progression of society.

DIFI, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, and the organising committee is inviting all members of the public to participate in this artistic endeavour with cash prizes of over QAR 30,000 up for grabs.

Entrants are encouraged to join the 20th anniversary celebrations with the best adjudged photographs showcased during the  Doha Conference 2014 taking place on  April  16 and 17  at the Qatar National Convention Centre.

In line with DIFI’s main objective of focusing on the pivotal role of families, the organising committee believes that photographs can successfully capture this meaningful message by reflecting personal thoughts and aspirations, while painting an expressive picture of families.

Participants should ensure that the pictures submitted are of the highest quality and shed light on their unique artistic vision. The winning images, as well as the best photographic entries, will be displayed in the exhibition Area during the conference.

To encourage the community to contribute and acknowledge the artistic efforts of participants, the organising committee will award winners with cash prizes. The top four winners will receive the following: First prize QR10,000; second prize QR7,000; third prize QR5,000; and fourth prize QR4,000. Winners who rank from 5th place up to 15th place, will each be awarded QR1,000.

The deadline for entries to the photography competition is Monday 31 March. Submissions should be made to Qatar Photographic Society’s headquarters at Katara Cultural Village, building number 18. For further information, please contact Mr Kamal Mohamed at 55854319 or 44677793.
