dnata has been named Ground Handling Provider of the Year once again at the Aviation Business Awards – the fourth year they have received the accolade.

The award was accepted on behalf of the whole dnata team last night at a gala dinner at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers by Ismail Ali Albanna, Executive Vice President of dnata.

“Dubai International Airport is one of the busiest international hubs in the world and we work extremely hard, sometimes in very demanding environmental conditions to exceed everyone’s expectations and delight our customers” said Ismail Ali Albanna, at the event. “This award recognises the quality of services we provide to our customers and is truly a tribute to the hard work and dedication of our staff.”

dnata’s ground handling team has played a pivotal role in the history of Dubai International Airport since the airport commenced operations over 50 years ago. Since that time, dnata has grown alongside both the airport and Dubai and has successfully met the significant challenges of increasing number of carriers with ever rising passenger numbers.

Earlier this year, dnata announced its determination to become the world’s most admired air services provider and this has been reinforced by significant investment across all divisions and regions of operations.

AED 142 million has been allocated during the current financial year, to support ground handling operations in Dubai - where dnata handles some 150 airlines. The majority of this money will be dedicated to purchasing essential Ground Support Equipment (GSE) including aircraft pushback tractors, container/pallet loaders for all wide bodied aircraft, air conditioning units, ground power units and toilet servicing units and specialized equipment to assist passengers with reduced mobility.

The Aviation Business Awards are organised by ITP - the publisher of Aviation Businessmagazine and ArabianSupplyChain.com - with the aim of honouring leadership and innovation in the regional aviation industry. The win is the fourth time for dnata, with previous accolades in this category in 2007, 2008 and 2010.
