Dubai Multi Commodities Centre DMCC, the master developer and licensing authority for the Jumeirah Lakes Towers JLT) Free Zone, today confirmed that it will commence a phased activation of the JLT car parking barriers, cluster by cluster, from July 2012. Cluster B will be the first, followed closely by Clusters D and E. The activation programme across all 25 clusters will take approximately six months.

In February 2012, DMCC communicated to Tower Sub-Developers and Owners Associations Tower Representatives that it would activate parking barriers from early Summer 2012. The intervening time has allowed Tower Representatives to start formalising parking arrangements for their respective towers, including the allocation of parking bays to specific units and to start a process of communicating the nature of the change to unit owners and residents.

Tower Representatives will issue parking barrier access cards to owners and residents who have allocated parking bays and inform them when the system will be activated and how it will work. The issuance of access cards will also be staged, cluster by cluster, over the implementation period. Visitor parking which does not require an access card will remain available in all of the clusters. DMCC will support Tower Representatives to ensure broad levels of user understanding. JLT’s online community portal – www.dmcc.ae/jltcommunity - will be updated regularly with information to help owners, residents, commuters and visitors.

Matthew Lomax, Director, Property, DMCC commented: “The installation of the car parking barriers across JLT is part of DMCC’s commitment to take reasonable measures to secure rights to the exclusive use of parking acquired by sub-developers and passed on to unit purchasers within the DMCC owned parking garages. DMCC advises all tenants to speak directly with their unit owner and the Tower Sub-Developer or Owners Association to ensure they obtain their access cards and are not inconvenienced during the activation period.”
