DEWA Women's Committee organizes ‘Laha Exhibition’ to support Emirati talent and promote happiness among employees
In line with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) commitment to support and strengthen women’s rights and to promote their talents, the DEWA Women's Committee successfully organised a special exhibition for women entitled ‘Laha,’ which ran from March 14 to 16, 2017 at a special tent at DEWA’s headquarters. The exhibit saw the participation of pioneering Emirati businesswomen showcasing their innovation in several fields.
“The first and most important focus of the DEWA Women's Committee is to provide all possible facilities and requirements to enhance the levels of satisfaction and happiness among our female employees while also being able to help them unleash their creative abilities and talents in various fields, aspects of life and professionalism; in line with the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who said, ‘Our job is to create an environment for women's capabilities, an environment that preserves their dignity and femininity, helps them balance their lives and appreciates their talents and energies,’” said Khawla Al Mehairi, Vice President of Marketing & Corporate Communications at DEWA and Chairperson of the DEWA Women’s Committee.
“The exhibition was a result of our keenness to empower women and support their active contribution in the advancement of local industries by providing an integrated and stimulating platform to showcase their talents and competencies, particularly in the field of design; to reflect the high level of creativity, professionalism and excellence of Emirati women. This activity also gained dual importance, as it is a common platform for establishing fruitful communication ties and positive interaction between DEWA and its female employees, in line with our goals to create an ideal environment for growth and development, not only at DEWA’s level, but also in empowering society,” Al Mehairi added.
“We currently have more than 1,800 female employees spread out across all departments and sectors, and we are keen to provide them with sufficient care and support to enhance their professional and life skills, help them reach the highest leadership in administrative and technical positions, promote their participation in the development of society, support local economic growth within an environment that develops their talents and knowledge and to highlight their achievements at professional and personal levels. We look forward to reinforcing the role of women in community and creative activities through women's initiatives and exhibitions like this, to achieve the desired goals in empowering society through women," said Fatima Deemas, Vice Chairperson of the DEWA Women's Committee.
“The exhibition featured a series of activities wherein Emirati participants reviewed their fashion designs, perfumes, skin care products, and other women related products. The participation of key female brands like Black Stone, M Collection, Bliss Couture, Ivory Collection, Blum, Varee, Al Warda Trading, Shiseido, Creo, Avogato Caffe and Shaz Collection contributed to the exhibition’s success,” Deemas concluded.
