DEWA to open new nursery in Warsan for employees’ children

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced the launch of a new nursery at its Warsan branch. The project aims to meet the overwhelming demand of employees who desire to enrol their children in DEWA ‘nurseries. The new nursery can accommodate 40 children and is 446.5 sqm. In size.
“We are committed to providing a positive work environment to help our staff to achieving the proper balance in their professional and personal lives, improving their performance, and enabling them to work without affecting their family life. This significantly increases employee satisfaction, while providing social care for children in the workplace,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.
“The new nursery aims to provide care for the children of our employees who work at Warsan branch. The nursery is being established to nurture children according to the highest international standards. Qualified personnel will be appointed to run and supervise the nursery. Such initiatives provide stability and a positive work environment for our employees, raising their job satisfaction, and encouraging them to excel,” said Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA.
DEWA is committed to supporting a system of nurseries across the organisation, to further empower its female staff and support them to achieve the proper balance between their professional and personal lives. DEWA supports the national children care project which was launched in 2008 by HH Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Women Establishment, wife of HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs of the UAE.
DEWA inaugurated its first nursery at its headquarters in 2010 in line with international standards in terms of fittings and teaching methods.
DEWA headquarters’ nursery spans 332 sq. m.. and can accommodate 32 children; while the Sustainable Building nursery is 445 sq. m. in size and accommodates 48 children. Together, the DEWA nurseries can accommodate a total of 120 children, at any given time.
DEWA nurseries are certified by the Ministry of Social Affairs, and provide services for the children of DEWA employees during the school year.

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) was formed on 1 January, 1992, by a decree issued by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum to take over and merge the Dubai Electric Company and the Dubai Water Department that had been operating independently for several years until then.
