Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is taking part in the 4th Ramadan Aman road safety campaign, which is organised by the Ajman-based Al Ihsan Charity Association. As part of the initiative, Iftar meals are distributed to drivers on the roads and at traffic intersections at Maghreb prayers during Ramadan, in collaboration with police departments from different Emirates. DEWA’s participation in the campaign supports the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transform the UAE into a hub for charitable and humanitarian work, and promote social service to make citizens and residents happier. DEWA’s participation in the 4th Ramadan Aman campaign also supports its robust strategy to strengthen social cohesion among all members of society.

DEWA’s support for the campaign is based on its corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its commitment to sponsor and support charitable projects and encourage drivers to adhere to traffic laws. It also encourages individuals and organisations to promote community service and enable all members of society to participate in volunteer work.

The Ramadan Aman campaign distributes food boxes to drivers during Maghreb prayers, with the help of volunteers, to limit traffic accidents and curb speeding by many drivers during the Iftar rush hour. The campaign covers many main intersections and heavy-traffic roads in the 7 Emirates. The campaign will also hand out leaflets and brochures to inform drivers about the importance of avoiding speeding and abiding by traffic rules, and the objectives of the campaign.

DEWA’s sponsorship of the campaign reflects its commitment to unite efforts and coordinate with all stakeholders. DEWA works according to an integrated strategy that includes organising and sponsoring social activities all year round. It works to develop and improve its CSR plans to contribute to developing society by adopting a number of activities and programmes that instil human values, promote National Identity and, enhance the sustainable development of Dubai and the UAE.

DEWA has been a leading organisation in supporting social activities in Dubai during Ramadan in the past years. DEWA launched and supported over 10 humanitarian and charitable initiatives and programmes during the Holy Month. By participating in this campaign, DEWA enhances its leading role in promoting cooperation with government and private organisations to increase joint work with all society and its organisations to achieve the common good.
