A group of Pre-Chemical Engineers at the International School International School of Arts & Science (ISAS), an Academia Management Solutions International (AMSI) school, visited the new DEWA power and desalination plant in Jebel Ali, the largest of its kind in the UAE, for a field visit that was part of their coursework to learn about the process of desalination.

The students witnessed the production and distribution of 140,000,000 gallons of fresh water to Dubai, the daily amount the plant produces.

The plant utilizes two ways to desalinate the water: Multi-stage flash distillation (MSF) and reverse osmosis (RO), which the students learned about.

“Maintenance challenges and process engineers are what mostly attracted my attention” said Ali Nadali, one of the students, “and we thank DEWA and our ISAS teachers for this firsthand experience. This visit made us feel privileged and for this we are grateful.”
