DEWA’s 14 most distinguished employees recognised in Q2 2012 Excellence Awards

In line with its continuous efforts to reinforce a culture of excellence and loyalty at work among employees, fourteen distinguished employees were recently recognised at the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) Excellence Awards of Q2 2012. The ceremony was attended by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA; Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, EVP of Business Support and other top management from DEWA at its Headquarters in Zaabeel East.
“In fulfillment of the strategy of recognising distinguished employees and creating a positive working environment, DEWA is actively fostering a culture of excellence. These awards recognise exceptional contributions to the core values and the vision of DEWA to become a sustainable world-class utility offering its customers the most reliable and efficient services possible,” said Al Tayer.
“Our ever-growing interest in customer service and satisfaction levels demonstrates the high levels of performance our employees are delivering every day on the job, this recognition comes to encourage them to deliver more on their promise for excellence,” added HE Al Tayer.
“We look at these awards as a motivator for DEWA employees to deliver more, to reach excellence in customer service and satisfaction levels. These awards, which take place four times a year, enable us to applaud those leading the way of excellence in our organisation. We would like to use this platform to encourage our staff to appreciate the role they play in the DEWA success story and the grand theme of a much more sustainable Dubai for generations to come,” said Al Akraf.
The award-winners of DEWA Excellence Awards (category of individuals) included Wedad Abbas Al Faresi, Category of Distinguished Employee of DEWA, Somayya Hussain Mohammed Ismail, Category of Distinguished Employee in Administration and Finance, Ashraf Ali Sayyid Abd El Salam, Category of Distinguished Employee in Specialized Fields, Gaya Comar Madhavan Pilay, Category of Distinguished Employee in Technical and Engineering ‘First Place,’ Amir Hamja Kamal Bash ‘Second Place,’ and Mohammed Farouq, Category of Distinguished Employee in Field Services.
The awards also recognised Reem Omar Mtawe Al Qedra, Category of Distinguished Female Employee, Malik Iftikhar Hussain, Category of Distinguished Employee in Supervisory Jobs, Jessel Kromtheriat, Category of Distinguished Employee in Secretarial Jobs, Talal Abd Al Hamid Al Mutawa ‘First Place,’ and Tareq Khaled Khouri ‘Second Place,’ Category of Distinguished UAE National Employee, Aftab Ahmed ‘First Place,’ Mohammed Jassem Al Din Khan Dakir ‘Second Place,’ Category of Distinguished Unknown Soldier; and Ramish Morely Nandi, Category of Distinguished Creative Employee.

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) was formed on 1 January, 1992, by a decree issued by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum to take over and merge the Dubai Electric Company and the Dubai Water Department that had been operating independently for several years until then.
