DEWA organises ‘Health and Safety Week

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA launched DEWA’s Health and Safety Week as part of DEWA’s strategy to enhance health, safety, and sustainability standards amongst all segments of society. The event was attended by DEWA’s Executive Vice Presidents, and top management, and featured various initiatives and competitions to raise awareness and highlight best international standards and practices in health and safety sectors.

“The Health and Safety week organised by DEWA adopts highest international standards as part of its integrated strategy to promote health, safety, and sustainability. In the last few years, DEWA has recorded numerous notable achievements. The effective commitment of DEWA’s employees towards health and safety and its implementation to enhance our utility services with the highest levels of availability, efficiency and reliability, along with its maintenance and sustainability, has played a pivotal role in our efforts to achieve our corporate objectives,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.

“I share one achievement in particular that we are very proud of. I am pleased to announce that we received the coveted Sword of Honour Award from the British Safety Council for the sixth time. This triumphant award for DEWA illustrates the exemplary leadership and benchmarking skills in terms of Health and Safety, in line with DEWA’s vision to become 'A Sustainable World-Class Utility,” added Al Tayer.

“We are all responsible for enhancing awareness and the effective implementation of health and safety measures. DEWA has the expertise and qualified team to make that happen. The Health and Safety Week highlights the importance of this. We should all continue our efforts to sustain the fantastic results, and focus on promoting the principles of health and safety among employees, and enhance our safe work environment for all employees, contractors, and customers,” added Al Tayer.

“The Department of Health and Safety organised a number of competitions for DEWA’s employees, and contractors underlining DEWA’s commitment to its internal and external customers,” concluded Al Tayer.

“DEWA puts health and safety measures as a leading priority, and we are committed to applying integrated management systems that promote health and safety standards across all its sectors and operations and as per the highest international practices. As part of its social responsibility, DEWA strives to provide a healthy and safe working environment,” said Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, EVP of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA.

“We at DEWA are working to promote a stimulating work environment, maintaining the health and safety of our employees to avoid injuries and diseases,” added Al Akraf.

The Health and Safety Week included a number of programmes and competitions designed for DEWA’s employees to raise and spread awareness about corporate health and safety measures, and highlight best international standards.
