DED unveils ‘Spirit of the Union’ sculpture in Business Village

The Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) and its agencies have heralded in the celebrations of the UAE's 40^th National Day, with the unveiling of the ‘Spirit of the Union’ sculpture in the Business Village. The sculpture was unveiled by His Excellency Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of DED, in the presence of DED's deputies, senior management, DED staff, and visitors.

"We extend our hearty congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President & Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Emirates and the people of the nation on the occasion of the UAE's 40^th National Day," said Mr Al Qamzi.

Mr Al Qamzi added: “DED is honoured to partake in the celebratory season that has prevailed across the nation. The UAE National Day celebrations reiterate the importance of unity in thinking and in commitment to work towards the socio-economic growth of the nation. Through these activities, DED aims to highlight the solidarity and achievement, strengthen community relations, and further enhance awareness of the UAE’s rich cultural heritage.”

DED's National Identity team, led by Nisreen Safar, organise the celebrations of the UAE's National Day to strengthen national identity, promote the importance of the national act among employees, and enable residents of the Emirate of Dubai to contribute positively in all sectors of development, which focus on the principles of acceptance, respect, and openness to other cultures.

“The celebrations, which take place in front of the Business Village, include activities that focus on the UAE's traditions and rich history. These activities include a mini heritage village, a traditional souq, and numerous local and classical music groups who will perform the National Anthem as well as historic songs. Old paintings and cars will also be on display,” said Nisreen Safar.

The activities, which will be held until December 1, encompass of Arabic hospitality for customers of the Business Registration and Licensing Division in all DED's centres, in addition to providing daily prizes to every fortieth customer, who receives a business license and a permit across the various centres of DED including the Creek, the Business Village, Al Twar, and The Dubai Mall. DED will also be distributing leaflets to all customers and visitors on the unification of the UAE.

DED is also organising a competition for its staff, which requires them to answer 40 questions on the formation of the UAE over the span of the week. A draw will be held to select 3 winners and prizes will be provided by Mary Foot Spa.
