The Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) have signed a joint agreement to share expertise and knowledge towards providing high quality licensing services in healthcare and related services.

The MoU was signed by Their Excellencies Sami Al Qamzi, Director General, DED and Engineer Essa Al Maidoor, Director General of DHA, in the presence of high ranking officials and executives from both sides. As per the agreement, the two sides will consult, co-operate and exchange information on matters relating to their respective strategic objectives as well as undertake joint initiatives to improve service delivery.

“Government departments and agencies coming together on a platform of shared services and commitment to excellence is essential to accomplish Dubai’s competitiveness goal. The agreement with Dubai Health Authority is the latest in an expanding partnership network which the Department of Economic Development is building as part of enhancing public sector services across Dubai,” commented Al Qamzi.

The DHA Director General stressed the agreement with DED reflects the mutual desire for providing high quality and complementary services in line with international standards.

“The agreement is part of the efforts of Dubai Health Authority towards establishing local, regional and international strategic partnerships and a key step toward marketing of healthcare services and licensing healthcare professions.  It will accelerate growth in the local healthcare sector,” Al Maidoor added reiterating DHA’s keenness to share expertise and launch joint initiatives with other government agencies in Dubai in such a way that enhances the level and quality of services provided to community members.

Licensing health-related professions, initial approvals and DHA’s inspection processes in healthcare institutions will come under the scope of the agreement. DHA will share the list of expired licenses with DED every three months making it easier for both authorities to take effective action on such cases.

DHA will also provide opinion to DED on matters of legal and health concerns when it comes to merging clinics or hospitals under one company. The health authority will also be part of online fine enquiry service on the DED website, which is already shared by other local government departments and entities in Dubai.
