As a further step toward embedding the concept of sustainable development among students and future generations, Central Trade and Auto Company (CTA), the exclusive dealer for Toyota vehicles in the Kingdom, recently sponsored the Environment Student Conference, held under the heading “My Environment...My Responsibility.” Under the patronage of Princess Basma Bint Ali, the event was organized by Al-Radwan Schools and the Jordan Environment Society.

The event gathered numerous participating schools such as students from Al-Radwan Schools, the Islamic Education College, Al-Asalah and Al-Moua’srah Schools, Al-Omariyah Schools Academy, as well as Ibdaa Montessori School from Syria. In addition to a wide participation of government officials and representatives including Amman Greater Municipality, Jordan Atomic Energy Commission, Ministry of Water and Irrigation, and the Ministry of Environment.

The conference aimed at reinforcing the participating students’ knowledge on a number of the latest reported environmental issues and challenges facing Jordan and the Arab World. The discussion between students and the present government officials tackled issues such as waste/garbage, recycling, water, global warming, nuclear reactors, deforestation, alternative energy and alternatives to MTBE.

“We at CTA strive to provide the necessary support for such constructive initiatives,” commented Nadim Haddad, Marketing Manager of CTA. “Not only do they play a key role in reinforcing the incentive for self-development amongst students, but they bolster the role played by the youth in promoting environmental preservation and sustainability by increasing their awareness of current environmental challenges and the potential ways of addressing them.”

The conference concluded with recommendations that addressed various issues tackled during the discussions and presentations held throughout the event.

CTA consistently supports worthy initiatives that deliver lasting benefits to the Kingdom and its citizens. Working independently and in partnership with established civil society organizations, CTA is committed to sustainable development in the education, environment, health and art sectors in Jordan.
