King inaugurates Crowne Plaza Hotel at Dead Sea Amman, 26 May 2013

His Majesty King Abdullah, along with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, on Sunday 26.05.13 inaugurated the Crowne Plaza Hotel and Resort at the Dead Sea, which is owned by the Social Security Corporation (SSC).

Touring the 420 rooms-hotel, King Abdullah listened to a briefing on the work opportunities provided by the JD100 million investments.

President of the SSC Investment Fund Henry Azzam said the fund's investments in the tourism sector amount to JD350 million.

He added that 800 workers at these facilities are from the local community, while the rest are from different parts of the Kingdom.

Hotel Director Firas Irsheidat said Jordanian labourers at the Crowne Plaza exceed 97 per cent of the total number of workers.

Crowne Plaza Jordan Dead Sea Resort & Spa, the latest addition of the 7 InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) properties in Jordan is located in the lowest point on Earth at 408 meters below sea level, is only half hour away from the capital Amman, and is 45 minutes from Queen Alia International Airport.
