Children’s Race of LG Dead Sea Ultra Marathon 2018 Concludes

Under the Patronage of HRH Prince Firas Bin Raad, The Children’s Race of the 24^th LG Dead Sea Ultra Marathon concluded on Friday, April 6^th with the participation of more than 2,000 kid.

The start of the Children’s race of LG Dead Sea Ultra Marathon, which is held under the organization of Run Jordan and Amman Greater municipality, was announced by LG Electronics Levant delegate Mr. Firas Shabaneh, and Run Jordan’s First Secretary, Dr. Fawzi Masad, and the General Manager of Run Jordan, Lina El-Kurd.

Participating children ages ranged between 6 years and 14 years old, kicked off their race with a celebratory atmosphere, and ran for 4.2 KM within the King Hussein Park and finished the race at the starting point.

At the rewarding ceremony, Dr. Fawzi Masad, Mr. Firas Shabaneh and Ms. Lina El-Kurd honored the winning children with trophies. Additionally, LG presented the winning participants with valuable prizes. Participating children were segmented into three categories; 6 – 8 years old, 9 – 11 years old, and 12 – 14 years old segment.

The race results are:

Male:

12 – 14 years: 1^st place: Mohammad Al Hussein (0:08:46), 2^ndplace: Hussein Al Miqdad (0:08:51), 3^rd place: Salah Dgheimat (0:09:08).

9 – 11 years: 1^st place: Asem Jaarat (0:10:01), 2^ndplace: Suleiman Abu Shiyab (0:10:07), 3^rd place: Salem Jaarat (0:10:21).

6 – 8 years: 1^st place: Hamzeh Jaarat (0:11:57), 2^ndplace: Kamal Ali (0:12:11), 3^rd place: Suhaib Abu A’thra (0:12:19).

Female:

12 – 14 years: 1^st place: Lama Jaarat (0:10:23), 2^ndplace: Mai Sheibat (0:10:34), 3^rd place: Abeer Al Asfar (0:10:58).

9 – 11 years: 1^st place: Ikhlas Al Shar’a (0:10:47), 2^ndplace: Sereen Jaarat (0:11:16), 3^rd place: Malak Sultan (0:13:11).

8 – 6 years: 1^st place: Alia Jaarat (0:12:41), 2^ndplace: Eman Al Tumeizi (0:13:36), 3^rd place: Farah Jaarat (0:13:46).

Special Needs category, Down Syndrome:

Male: Abul Aziz Makhameh (0:25:18), Female: Salma Al Bitar (0:30:42)

Special Needs category, Wheelchair:

Female: Areen Al Bataineh (0:09:00)

Ms. Lina El-Kurd congratulated all the winners and participants, saying: “It was a great event for families and their children who year after year have the chance to focus on sports as a way for a better health and teach their children the benefits of sports,"

Ms. El-Kurd also expressed Run Jordan’s enthusiasm to kick off the highly anticipated LG Dead Sea Ultra Marathon in its 24^th edition on April 13^th. The Ultra Marathon races will witness a huge participation from Jordanian and international professional runners, in addition to sports enthusiasts.

The race will feature three races including a 50 km Ultra Marathon, starting from opposite Amman’s Dead Sea Beach at 6 AM, a 21 km Half Marathon; which will kick off starting from opposite Amman’s Dead Sea Beach at 6 AM as well, and a 10 km Fun Run which will start 2 KM after the baptism junction at 9 AM.
