Careem Applies for Smart Application License

Careem, the region’s leading ride-hailing app, recently announced its decision to proceed with the application for a smart application license in the Kingdom, in the aim of becoming a licensed, app-based, ride-hailing platform.

Application for the license comes as part of Careem’s dedication to comply with instructions and regulations issued by the Ministry of Transportation and the Land Transport Regulatory Commission, and falls in line with its eagerness to cooperate with all sides, as it continues to work towards reaching a fair solution. Additionally, efforts to obtain a license go hand in hand with the various investments that Careem plans to contribute to the Kingdom, especially through upgrading and the development of the transportation sector. With these investments and those made in national human resources, Careem provides sustainable job opportunities, as well as a reliable, safe, convenient, and affordable transportation service.

Sabri Hakim, General Manager at Careem in Jordan, expressed his hopes that this step will be the beginning of finding a common understanding between all entities and comprehensive solutions regarding licensing and operations. He also confirmed that the official launch of Careem in Jordan will enhance the transportation sector and the investment environment, and emphasize the company’s commitment to being a long-term, strategic partner of the Kingdom.

Hakim concluded his comments by encouraging taxi drivers to join the Careem fleet, as they are the company’s partners in business and in achieving increased success.
