Captain Suleiman Obeidat – RJ’s interim CEO

The Royal Jordanian Board of Directors decided, in its session held on October 26, to elect Captain Suleiman Obeidat a board member, and mandated him as interim president/CEO of Royal Jordanian effective October 27, 2015, for a transitional period of three months.

The Board of Directors also accepted the resignation of the former president/CEO Captain Haitham Misto, as of October 26, 2015.

Captain Obeidat has a long experience as a pilot and in aviation management; he was the Chief Commissioner of the Jordan Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission between 2007 and 2010, and Director General of the Jordan Civil Aviation Authority between 2004 and 2007. From 2000 to 2005, Captain Obeidat was the Head of the Management Board of the Jordan Airline Training and Simulation (JATS).

In RJ, he occupied the position of Deputy President/Chief Technical Officer between 2002 and 2004, and Vice President of Flight Operations from 2000 till 2002. He also held a number of managerial and technical positions in RJ’s Flight Operations Department since he joined the airline in 1984.

Captain Obeidat was a pilot at the Royal Jordanian Air Force between 1965 and 1983. He holds a BSc in Military Science and took part in several courses in management, leadership, crew resource management and human factors in the US, the UK and Jordan. Captain Obeidat is a member of several committees in Arab and international aviation organizations.
