A macro-look at the market and economies

Capital Club Dubai, the region’s premier private business club and a member of the ENSHAA group of companies, will be hosting a Business Lunch Forum with Steen Jakobsen, Chief Economist at SAXO Bank, with the theme, The world is at zero interest rate. Who wins and who loses? A macro-look at the market and economies to be held on Thursday 10th May 2012.
With more than 20 years of experience within the fields of proprietary trading and alternative investment, Mr. Jakobsen produces Saxo Bank’s yearly Outrageous Predictions. With this publication Saxo Bank explores 10 important events with, in their view, under-recognised probabilities that, should they come to pass, would change the way the markets would need to be analysed, traded and reported. These predictions are not intended to be taken as real predictions or forecasts, but rather are done in the spirit of encouraging people to think outside the box and prepare for unexpected world-altering events. Some of the Outrageous Predictions for 2012 include an unexpected third-party candidate taking the elections for the US presidency, the price of wheat doubling, and an Australian recession.
Mr. Jakobsen started his career at Citi bank N.A. Copenhagen in 1989, after finishing his studies in Economics at Copenhagen University, before moving on to Hafnia Merchant Bank as Director, Head of Sales and Options. In 1992, he joined Chase Manhattan in London as VP, Head of Scandinavian Sales, and then the Chase Manhattan Proprietary Trading Group. From 1995 to 1997 he worked as a Proprietary Trader and Head of Flow Desk at Swiss Bank Corp, London, and 1997 he became Global Head of Trading, FX and Options at Christiania (now Nordea) in New York before joining UBS in New York in 1999 as the Executive Director in the Global Proprietary Trading Group. He joined Saxo Bank in 2000 and after a brief departure to Limus Capital Partners, where he was Chief Investment Officer for two years, he returned to the bank in 2011 as Chief Economist.
