Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority Inks Deals With Travel and Tourism Companies During the Second Day of WTM

As part of its participation in the37th edition of the World Travel Market (WTM) 2017, one of the main international platforms that attracts travel and tourism industry experts, the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) held meetings with a number of travel and tourism industry companies. During the meetings, the BTEA representatives discussed collaboration and cooperation with international travel and tourism companies which resulted in signing deals with number of companies.

The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority’s participation in the WTM is in line with its strategy to promote the position of the Kingdom of Bahrain as an ideal tourism destination across regional and international markets. Events such as WTM act as the perfect platform to connect BTEA with new markets and destinations in order to further boost the tourism sector.

During the exhibition, BTEA aimed to attract visitors to its stand in order to promote the upcoming Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix. Visitors to the stand also had the opportunity to participate in the daily ‘fastest lap’ competition. Additionally, BTEA focused on promoting the pearl diving project which aims to revive Bahrain’s long-standing history in this area.

The BTEA’s participation comes in line with promoting the Kingdom of Bahrain as an ideal tourist destination in the region with an aim of attracting new and international markets. We will also focus on highlighting the key international events and attractions available in Bahrain.

Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BETA)

Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority was established in 2015 under the Royal Decree number (76) for the year 2015 issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain. Whereas the first clause of the Decree number (10) stated that an authority should be established under the supervision of the Council of Ministers

In 2015, BTEA started its operations under the Decree number (9) for the year 2015 to append the Tourism Affairs to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce based on the recommendation of HRH Prime Minister and under the law number (62) of the year 2016 to establish and regulate the Bahrain Exhibition and Convention Authority (BECA) and the Decree number (1) for the year 1985 to establish a Supreme Council for Tourism, and the law number (15) for the year 1986 to regulate the Tourism sector amended by a Law by Decree number (12) for the year 1994.
