As a result of the resounding success met by averda’s Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) at the Future Green exhibition, the region’s largest integrated environmental solutions provider planted 650 trees on November 26, as part of ‘Give a Ghaf’, the UAE’s first tree planting program managed by Goumbook.

All 650 tree seeds were planted at the Al Awadi Field Study Center in Sharjah, at an event that was attended by members of averda’s dedicated team, including top executives and staff members’ families.

“The response we received to our RVM at Future Green was thrilling and extremely encouraging, with 650 cans and plastic bottles being deposited in just one day. It is proof that, given the means, the people of the UAE are keen to recycle and to play their part in ensuring a greener future for their community and country,” said Georges Barakat, Director of Marketing and Communication, averda. “We pledged one tree to ‘Give a Ghaf’ for every recyclable deposited into our RVM, and it is with great pleasure that we were able to fulfill this pledge to such a happy extreme. The public of the UAE should be proud of themselves for contributing to such a worthwhile cause.”

Goumbook launched the “Give a Ghaf” tree planting program a year ago to encourage people in the UAE to plant Ghaf trees and help protect one of the world's most valuable symbols of the living desert.

“Averda’s outcome as a result of its participation in Goumbook’s Future Green exhibition is exactly the outcome that we were aiming for with our green-focused event,” said Tatiana Antonelli Abella, Co-Founder, Goumbook. “This is a significant achievement for Averda and Future Green, and is a testament to the power of such events for encouraging environmentally-friendly practices across the country.”

averda’s RVMs represent a revolutionary and exciting new initiative allowing consumers to participate in ‘doing good’ through recycling. They deliver a simple message: Recycle Redeem Reward, with consumers receiving redeemable points for every recyclable deposited into the machine.
