Alpen Capital and Bank Sarasin-Alpen host another successful Global Fusion concert in Doha

Alpen Capital and Bank Sarasin-Alpen hosted their fourth Global Fusion concert on Wednesday, 22 February 2012 at the Intercontinental, Doha. The concert was attended by leading personalities from the region and showcased world class performances by leading artistes from across the world.

The 2012 concert was led by the sitar virtuoso Niladri Kumar who captivated the audiences with his dexterity on the zitar and sitar. He was accompanied by musical gurus like Eliana Burki, Bernard Schimpelsberger, Ibrahim Al Haidous, Abbas Kosimov, Osam Ezzeldin, Chloe Arnold, Sheldon D'Silva, Satyajit Talwalkar and Agnelo Fernandes. In addition to the fusion music extravaganza, the audiences also enjoyed the performances of the Swiss Alphorn player – Eliana Burki as well as the tap dancer – Chloe Arnold. The Qatari Oudh player – Ibrahim Al Haidous was another major highlight of the concert.

Niladri Kumar was felicitated at the concert and inducted into the Global Fusion – Hall of Fame for his contribution to Global Fusion as well as to world music. Every year since 2007, Alpen Capital and Bank Sarasin-Alpen have honoured artistes who have contributed to the evolution of the Global Fusion concerts. Speaking at the occasion, Niladri Kumar thanked the organisations for giving him the opportunity to perform with other renowned musicians. Some of the world renowned artistes who were previously felicitated include Vikku Vinayakram, George Brooks, Charbel Rouhana, Ustad Shujaat Khan and Dr L Subramaniam.
